NIH Health Disparities Loan Repayment Program, August 2008
Dr. Patricia Flynn was recognized by the National Institute of Health for her research focused on
health disparities and inequalities in cancer screening. This will be Dr. Flynn's second award from
the Health Disparities Loan Repayment Program.

Congratulations to Sarah Ormseth and her colleagues for the recognition received from the Health
Psychology Division of APA. Their abstract was one of the three selected to receive this year's
award at the 2009 APA Convention in Toronto, Canada.

Dr. Hector Betancourt and his collaborators were awarded a three year grant from the Government
of Chile to investigate diabetes treatment adherence in the Metropolitan and Araucania regions of
Chile.

Congratulations to Dr. Hector Betancourt and his international psychology colleagues who were
newly recognized as Fellows of Division 52 of the American Psychological Association. The picture
to the left was taken at the APA Convention in Toronto honoring the four new Fellows and includes
